About Us

In line with the vision of The Global Health Network (TGHN), “Equity in health research by improving methods, building careers & sharing knowledge”, TGHN is partnering with University of Philippines Manila (UP Manila) to establish TGHN Philippines to collaboratively work towards enabling research in every healthcare setting by sharing knowledge and methods.

UP Manila is one of the eight constituent universities of the University of the Philippines system. It envisions to be the national leader in the health sciences and commits to providing world class education, research, and extension services in health, social and behavioral sciences, and the arts and humanities, responsive to the needs of the nation and the world.

UP Manila hosts the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) Philippines which is a hub that focuses on research, capacity building, connecting and convening, and advocacy to advance social innovation in health in the country. SIHI Philippines is part of the SIHI global network of individuals and institutions combining their skills and resources in support of key activities to promote social innovation in health. In June 2024, SIHI Philippines was relaunched as the Program on Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Health under the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology of the UP Manila - National Institutes of Health.

TGHN Philippines/SIHI Philippines endeavours to bring together information, resources, and research from organisations and networks in the Philippines. The aim is to make it as easy as possible to find the right information, support, and guidance, by connecting researchers and other health system actors together and making sources of reliable information and tools both accessible and discoverable.

Upcoming and Past Projects and Initiatives

GCARSIH

SIHI Philippines functions as the secretariat for the Gelia Castillo Award for Research on Social Innovations in Health (GCARSIH). It is a national award given every two years by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development to recognize outstanding social innovations that have improved health and to assist them for sustainability and scale.

InnovEx

Together with its partners and through the support of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development, SIHI Philippines developed and launched the Social Innovation in Health Exchange (InnovEx) platform. InnovEx is an online venue for sharing and networking among innovators, implementers, funders, and other partners.
