The seminar was divided into four sessions with a total of eighteen speakers nationally and internationally presenting on research capacity strengths and gaps in the different areas of their speciality. The seminar was attended by ninety eight research scholars and students, and the event served as an essential platform for exchanging knowledge and insights.

During the seminar, participants learned about The Global Health Network's mission to enable research in every healthcare setting - driving equity in where research happens, who leads and who benefits. This happens through an interconnected network of regional centres and through the digital platform that hosts diverse global communities of practice and knowledge hubs, free online training, events, tools and resources. The seminar was an example of how TGHN connects excellence, transfers knowledge, builds capacity and fosters exchanges in health research between and across diseases, regions and organisations. This visionary initiative paves the way for a collaborative and impactful approach to address global health challenges.

Networking is expected to play a vital role in connecting and mobilizing the global health community to work towards achieving better health outcomes for local populations. Networking among teams, institutes and individuals in the Global South is to be utilised to address the unacceptable disparity of 90:10 health research funding gap in research which means 90% of fund goes to the Global North and 10% for the Global South. TGHN Nepal would support in generating evidence-based policy for monitoring progress towards the health related-Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Vice Chairman, National Planning Commission, Honourable Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha remarked “The seminar topic is very pertinent and timely not only for Nepal but for regional and international cooperation. I am impressed by the range of ideas deliberated and fully concur with the speakers about the importance of networking of academia, researchers and government institutions for building health research capacity.”
